The "Dayton, Ohio Economic Summit on the Revitalization of Manufacturing" will be held Friday, October 7 from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. Fifth Street. The Summit will provide a venue for regional leaders to develop a unified position on how to create jobs and economic development in the Dayton/western Ohio region. Individuals or companies interested in attending the Summit can register on-line at www.prosperousamerica.org. Registration is $30.00 by September 23, or $50.00 beginning September 24.
"We believe that without a strong manufacturing and production base in the Dayton region, we will never achieve our full economic recovery" said Rick Garver, General Manager of the HARCO Manufacturing Group. "We intend to identify and address the barriers that hinder our ability to grow our regional economy."
Topics to be discussed at the Summit include:
* U.S. manufacturing strategy & regulations, emphasizing defense manufacturing
* Trade policy that can yield long-term economic revitalization
* Tax reform that will lead to local production
* Banking, emphasizing access to capital
National speakers will also participate in the Summit, including: Pat Choate, Economist, Vice-Presidential Candidate to Ross Perot; Charlie Blum, President of IAS Group and former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Industry; and Clyde Prestowitz, Founder and President of the Economic Strategy Institute.
