Obama Kowtows to Chamber of Commerce.
President Barack Obama plans to speak at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce event in December in an effort to mend relations with the business group that successfully spent tens of millions of dollars in the effort to defeat Democrats in this month's elections.
During the campaign Obama blasted the chamber for accepting contributions from undisclosed donors, saying some of those donors might be foreigners. But Clyde Prestowitz, founder of the Economic Strategy Institute and a Commerce Department official in the Reagan administration, isn't impressed with Obama's effort at diplomacy, Politico reports.
